The Art of Remembering
“Each painting begins as a dream… and becomes a world you can step into.”
La Catrina — the elegant skeleton of Mexico’s Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) — is a figure Jessica has painted for years across Mexico City and Tulum. In her hands the Catrina is crowned in roses, marigolds and monarch butterflies: a celebration of the people we carry with us, not a costume.
For the Seattle Catrina Festival 2026 she painted all six monumental skulls in Westlake Park and 52 architectural pillars over about seven weeks, exhibited October 30–November 1, 2026, where she also presented her latest collection of Catrina paintings.
